The performance gain comes with increased costs: these systems are demand greater precision, need specialized alignment, and are expensive to replace. Additionally, they consume additional pigment per page due to the doubled nozzle count.


Visual output varies between the two. While both are capable of high-quality output, dual-array printheads often provide finer detail rendering thanks to their precise single-pass deposition. This reduces banding risks that can occasionally manifest in single-array systems due to multiple pass inconsistencies.

Upkeep varies significantly. Single-array printheads are less likely to clog because of their simpler internal structure. Dual-array systems, however, are highly sensitive to conditions and are more vulnerable to dust. If one array misaligns, it can disrupt the whole job, often necessitating professional intervention.

If your workflow is centered on professional-grade volume, and you’re ready to accept higher costs for initial and maintenance fees, then a dual-array printhead is the superior option. But if your usage is occasional and you prioritize affordability and simplicity, a basic nozzle system will meet your requirements without overpaying for unused capacity.
